Thanks for your post, and I will miss this line, too, if it is going away. Though I agree that the quality has been mixed, I do think there were some really enjoyable reads, and I think it was nice, even so briefly, to have an imprint devoted to the genre of crime comics.

I am curious, though, where has it been confirmed that the line is being cancelled? Not that I am doubting you, I just missed that bit of news, and I was wondering if there was a link or something to the source of that information. Thanks in advance,

You forgot to mention Rescue Me’s Tommy Gavin. I realized a long time ago, I was watching that show for a sense of vicarious release. You watch this guy who is more of a raw nerve than anything, getting away with being a completely reactive asshole. Someone pisses him off, and he’s suddenly throwing things, possibly at you. He’s a child really, but it looks so damn satisfying, watching him go from one fuck up to the next, claiming good intentions all the while. He’s like a tornado of bad morals and poor decisions. I get the satisfaction of watching him do things I never would. To actually slap the asshole in line behind me and not let the prick just get away with it. — I makes me smile. The same goes for the rest of these. It’s that impulse that you hold back every day because you know it’s not socially acceptable, but in there, somewhere, and usually not too far down is the urge to give these pricks what’s coming to them. … ah sweet release.

Heat is full of win. It’s my favorite crime movie by far, and I have very high hopes for this movie. Especially with such a stellar cast. Johnny Depp has been at the top of my list since I saw his ridiculously awesome portrayal of HST and Christian Bale is a badass, even despite his temper. =)

Interesting POV Mike- one that is not at all surprising (having been a newbie recruited by you for some new aspects of geekdom) and refreshing- I must admit, I am a little tired of the multitude of opinions that start in the middle and go to both extremes. Sadly, I STILL haven’t seen it. Blame the economy and my landlord. I did, however, have a dream last night that I screened it in my parent’s basement. Let’s not interpret that one…
